HOW TO GET TO MAI CHAU VALLEY?
Depending on your mode of transport, it will take 4 hours to get to Mai Chau from Hanoi. You can hire a car with a driver and a guide or get a taxi from Hanoi. These ways are quite expensive. Or you can take a bus from Hanoi to Mai Chau, this option is cheaper.
TRAVEL TIPS:
- You should carry valuable things with you, in case your bags are picked up by other people by chance or by purpose.
- Remembering the plate number of the bus is always good in case you forget something on the bus, we can find it quick & easy.
- Before leaving the bus, you should check your belongings, again and again, in case it is picked up by other passengers on the bus before we find out
In Mai Chau, you can take a walk, hire bicycles, motorbikes or scooters to visit surrounding or even go further to Pu Luong Nature Reserve or Buoc Village / Hieu Village...seeing the local farmers are doing farm on the paddy fields or passing by some local traditional stilts houses to visit their local technique of brocade weaving in making some clothes, bags...
The most popular accommodation in Mai Chau is homestay - a local family house of ethnic people. In the evening, they will have a traditional dance performance, you are able to entertain by joining with them, enjoy local wine and communicate with local people.
