8:30 AM

Depart Da Nang/Hoi An and journey towards the limestone complex of the Marble Mountains in beautiful Da Nang. Upon arrival, see the 156 stone steps that are carved into the side of Thuy Son, the only Marble Mountain accessible to visitors.

Ascend to the top of the mountain and marvel at the Buddhist pagoda temples and hidden Buddhist and Hindu grottoes along the way. Get a closer look at the reliefs that depict religious scenes carved out of the marble, and soak up the panoramic views.

Head back down the mountain to visit the artisan's village where skilled sculptors create many amazing products out of the marble. Continued to Linh Ung Pagoda, built under the reign of King Minh Mang in the 19th-century Nguyen Dynasty. Learn about the legend of the Buddhist statue said to have drifted downstream to the area to anchor at a sandy embankment. Admire the pagoda temple built by the locals to worship the statue, before the trip back to Da Nang/Hoi An.

FURTHER INFORMATION

When visiting temples or mosques, both men and women should dress in conservative, non-revealing clothing. Full-length trousers with a shirt or t-shirt for men; and pants or skirts well below the knee with a top that covers the shoulders and upper arms for women.

  • Personal Expense:

You will need to take some extra money to cover extra meals, drinks, laundry, and souvenirs... Based on the advice of previous customers an approximate amount of USD250 per person per week should be sufficient; however, for those that can’t resist a bargain or may wish to participate in all of the optional excursions, consider allocating a higher amount.

  • Exchange Cash:

US Dollars are easily exchanged throughout Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, however other currencies such as Indian Rupee can generally be exchanged at airports provided notes are new and undamaged. We suggest for your convenience that you ensure your US Dollars are from the new series to avoid any difficulties exchanging money during your trip (should be from the new series from the year 2006 onwards). We suggest exchanging your money before traveling to remote areas and smaller towns, as exchange facilities can be limited.
